It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannine Rose DeLima Colangeli, affectionately known as Gina, who passed away on March 28, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. She was 79 years old.
Gina was born on January 30, 1946, in Sudbury, Ontario, to Florida and Jean Henri, both of whom predeceased her. She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Mario.
Gina is survived by her two children, Gino (Kristina) and Perry (Lisa). She was a proud grandmother to Gino’s children: Anthony (Savannah Colangeli), Marc (Angelina Claughton), and Michael (Linda Bonilla). She was also blessed with a granddaughter from Perry, Micaela. Gina’s family grew even further with the joy of great-grandchildren: Dominic, Lorenzo, and Isla (from Anthony), and Enzo, Augustine, and Estelle (from Marc).
Her family was everything to her, and she cherished the moments spent with them. Gina’s love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident in the way she selflessly gave of her time, nurturing them with love and affection. Summers were often spent surrounded by her loved ones, basking in the sun.
Gina had a zest for life that was contagious. She was known for her passion for gardening and her unparalleled ability to cook massive Italian meals for family gatherings. The kitchen was always filled with laughter and the aroma of her delicious meals as she prepared feasts for those she loved. Family was at the center of her world, and she had a deep, unwavering love for each of them.
She also formed lifelong friendships that were deeply important to her. She will be missed by her long-time friends Andrea Millar, Lydia Zentner, Anna Iuliani, Cheryl Rossi, Fernande Gervais, Jeanne Sauve, Patsy Sauve, Dianne J. Vincent, Elsie Lazarovich, Louise Templemans Plat, Lise Rousseau, Paula Pompa, Sue Wong, Diane Craig, and Diane Grindle who shared in her joy and her love for life.
Gina’s warmth, kindness, and strength will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
