Jen’s true loves in life were obvious from the beginning. Her intense love of dogs and other animals started with her first puppy, Tiffany. Her second love was heavy metal and Hair Bands. Her bedroom walls were covered with posters, photos and clipped art pieces of her favorite bands. Her memorabilia collection would be the envy of any dedicated fan.
In her 20s, Jen worked every job imaginable, from fast food to court reporting to office work. However, something was missing, and her true calling of working with animals became ever-present in her mind. In her 30s, Jen freelanced as a pet sitter and dog walker. Soon after, she started her own business and created Let’s Get Walked, which grew quickly. She pioneered Calgary’s dog-walking industry by cultivating a supportive network of like-minded animal lovers.
Her dog-walking business allowed Jen the flexibility to pursue her love of music and travel the world. Whether it was travelling by planes, trains, automobiles or even boats, she managed to make the most of every experience. She was a true ambassador of music, an absolute Rock ‘n Roll diehard and a gem of a human being who loved to live life to the fullest, unapologetically on her terms.
Jen valued people and made friends easily – she was outgoing, with an infectious smile and an amazing sense of humor. She gave fully and selflessly and was thoughtful, generous, considerate, and compassionate.
Since the passing of her father, George Klassen, Jen graciously filled in helping her mom Lea – whether it was special occasion dinners, appointments or groceries. Jen always had a great time with her mom, and they often travelled together in Canada and abroad, and while attending Klassen family reunions.
Jen’s legacy continues on through all she connected with; she is an example of how we should live our lives. Jen will be greatly missed by her family, friends and beloved animals.
