It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Jennifer Theresa Gordon, born October 16, 1951 in Westmoreland, Jamaica. After having fought the good fight, she passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the age of 65 years. She is survived by her son O’neil; daughter MaryAnn; granddaughters Nevaya Wilkins and Kadijah Wilkins; mother Phylis McLeod; four sisters; two brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Kirkland “Kirk” Gordon; Jennifer was born and raised in Jamaica. Shortly after coming to Canada, she married the love of her life Kirk. Jennifer was a mother to all who knew her. She cared for and served anyone that came into her life. This was seen in her work with Carewest as a nurses aid where she cared for the elderly. She enjoyed 15 years at the Bethany Care Center. Her greatest love was her family, but her other passions were her love of Wrestling, Bingo and coffee. She also enjoyed hockey, as an avid Flames fan, crocheting, needlepoint, sewing, cooking and shopping. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff in the Dialysis department and unit 39 of Peter Lougheed Hospital for their kind and compassionate care with a special thank you to her social worker Jaspaul Dial who became a very close friend through her dialysis treatment and another very special friend Violet Cunningham for her special care in the last few months. A Celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at Showers of Blessing Apostolic Church (3915 – 34 Street NE, Calgary) on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 am. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Jennifer to Diabetes Canada (www.diabetes.ca). Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
