Jerome Eric Baptiste

It is with great sadness that we, the families of Jerome Eric Baptiste, announce the loss of our beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law, nephew, grandson, uncle, relative and friend after a brief and courageous battle of an illness at the Foothills Medical Centre (special services).

Jerome was born in Calgary, Alberta. He was humble and unique in his own special way. He attended Exshaw School, Springbank and SAIT, where he received his certification for carpentry in 1999. His passion was to excel at hockey, participated in numerous rodeos in saddlebronc events, and played many sports. Men’s Jr. Fancy Dance led him to travel throughout Alberta, British Columbia and the United States. He actively participated in many cultural events such as horseback riding, pack trip, and camping. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour.

Jerome was a father to Mackenzie (Jordan Chuckery), JoDee, Manny, Jerome Jr., J’lyn, Cruz, Blake and Arian; grandparent to Kaisley and Caiden;  son of Sandra Baptiste and Clayton Fox; brother to Crystal, Ace (Bernadine), and Jade Chiniquay; an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; nephew to aunts and uncles, Myron (Diane), Clifford (Bernadette), Alvin Young, Clarence (Shirley), Florene (Gilbert), Dixie (Tater), Karen (Harry), Jennifer (Bruce), Delia, Norine (Matthew), Irene Fox; grandson to Charles Rabbit, Ernie Labelle, Lawrence and Lou Crawler, Charlie and Cassie Mark , Norman Baptiste; and adopted brother, Donald Salter.

Also mourning Jerome’s loss are the Baptiste, Fox, Mark, Dixon, Powderface, Young, Wildman, and Poucette Families; Families of Morley, Eden Valley, Red Pheasant, Saskatchewan, and Maskwacis, Alberta. The family apologizes if they have missed anyone.

Jerome is predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Sheryl “Tweet” Rollinmud; brother Kash Dixon; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Reba Baptiste; paternal grandparents Jesse and Joe Fox; great grandparents Paul and Eunice Mark, Jake and Agnes Rabbit; aunties and uncles Barney, Reg, Jackie, and Brian Fox, Myrtis Mark, Vern and Jerome Poucette, Justin and Jarvis Simeon, Auntie Verna Baptiste; brother in law Jason Lefthand; cousins Boyce Fox, Lorne Poucette, Corey and Jordena Baptiste.

Wake will take place on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 and Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Residence of Sandra Baptiste in Morley, Alberta. Funeral will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Morley United Church, Morley, Alberta. Graveside will follow at the Chiniki Cemetery.
