Joanne Conlan (Nee Finnigen)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joanne Conlan , who peacefully left this world on Thursday Feb 13, 2025, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 88 years. 

 Joanne (AKA Joanie baby) was born March 3, 1936, in Glasgow, Scotland. Joanne is survived by her three children, Andrew (Amy), Isabella (David), and Tanya (Jim) all of whom loved her dearly. Joanne was predeceased by her husband Tom and first-born son Thomas. Additionally, Joanne leaves behind her cherished grandchildren David Andrew (Trenna), Marisa (Ben), Michael (Megan), Victoria, James, and Morgan who will forever hold her memory close. 

 Joanne was a woman of strong convictions, passion and love for her family and friends. She was kind and giving, generous of spirt and very wise. She had many close friends over the years as she made deep connections with the people who had the honor to know her. Joanne loved babies, children and animals. She was an avid reader and enjoyed telling stories, her favorite usually involving a ghost or spirit or mythological beast. She was creative, imaginative, artistic, fanciful and intelligent. She was a very special soul. 

 Joanne's family wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and health care workers who looked after her at South Health Campus Unit 66 ( Dr Andrea, Dr David, Anya, Delano, Ver Donna, Jamie, and others). We wish to also acknowledge the LPNs (Mercy) and Health Care Aids at Walden Heights who cared for her for many years. Finally, we would like to recognize Dr Hunter for caring for our mother for many years. 

 A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Pierson's Funeral Home (4121 -17 Ave SE Calgary, Alberta, T2A 0T1). Interment will be at Rocky View Cemetery, February 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm. If friends and family members so desire flowers can be sent to the funeral home or donations can be made to ARR's Calgary or the Calgary Humane Society in her name.
