Joao Sousa passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the age of 61 years.
Joao ‘John’ was born in Sao Miguel Azores in Portugal. When he was 19, he moved to Canada to join his soon-to-be wife, Maria. Joao and Maria married shortly after his arrival in Canada and went on to have two daughters. He worked for many years with CP Rail as a repairman.
John is predeceased by his parents, Gil Cidadao & Maria Dos Santos; and brother, Jose Maria Sousa. He is survived by his daughters, Suzy Sousa and Sammie Sousa; three grandchildren, Emilio Sousa, Luca Leonardo, & Liliana Leonardo; siblings, Celestino Sousa, Carlos Sousa, Fernanda Melo; and extended family.
A Funeral Service will be held for Joao at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
