It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend Joe Poucette, also known as Uncle Buck and Grampa Teeth, on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the age of 61 years. Joe was named after our late veteran Joe Poucette.
Joe was raised by his grandmother, Flora (Chizin) Poucette since the age of four years. He had a passion for rodeo. His involvements were saddle bronc, bull riding, team roping and calf roping in his younger days. Joe also loved his traditional and cultural teachings that were passed down to him. Joe had also hosted four Memorial Remembrance Day Round Dances, as they were his favourite overall. He also loved playing the sport of hockey and fastball. Joe was a quiet, humble, humorous, and family oriented person. He never hesitated to help anyone in need. Overall, he was an awesome brother, uncle, and proud grandpa to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his beloved siblings Eldra (Brian) Snow and Gardner Poucette; half siblings Ruth Hunter, Darlene Snow, Shirley Poucette; adopted brothers Dave Cole, and Floyd Beaver. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Joe is also survived by a special granddaughter Taylene Snow; a special grandson Jomerson Poucette; as well as other relatives from Kehewin, Paul Band, Eden Valley, Bighorn, and Saddle Lake. The family would like to apologize if we have missed anyone.
Joe was predeceased by his grandparents Flora (Chizin) Poucette and Roger Bearspaw; his parents Lazarus Twoyoungmen and Lily Poucette; siblings Leon Lazarus, Evangeline Poucette, Van Lazarus Poucette, Kirby Poucette, and Fergus Poucette.
A Wake will be held at the residence of the late Joe Poucette, Mînî Thnî, Alberta on Saturday, November 18, 2023 and Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Morley Gymnasium, Mînî Thnî, Alberta.
Burial will follow at the Bigstoney Cemetery.
A traditional feast will follow the graveside at the residence of the late Joe Poucette.
