John Burley

John Burley passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the age of 73 years.

John will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years Colleen Burley; and two step-sons Rob Morgan (Rhonda) of Burbank, CA, and Liam Morgan of Calgary; Grandchildren Braden & Brooke Morgan. John is also survived by a brother Michael Burley (Wai Tung Kang) of England; two sisters Frances Nunn and Christina Holloway, both in England, and other family and many friends.

John was predeceased by his parents Richard and Susan Burley; and a sister Rita Burley.

John was born and raised in the UK, educated at Oxford and then joined the British Army where he worked in the area of procurement. He was transferred to the UK military base in Suffield, Alberta where met and married Colleen. Medicine Hat became their home until moving to Calgary a few years ago as a result of needed medical care. John had a terrific sense of humour and always enjoyed a good time. He was a fine patron of “Up the Creek” where he spent time with many good friends. As a lover of “Football” and the Premier League, he followed and cheered for his favourite team Manchester United. Colleen & John loved to travel and made many wonderful memories on their trips to Jamaica. John was intelligent, hard working, generous and very kind. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
