John "Peter" Jack, 80, of Calgary, AB, peacefully passed away in his home on December 6, 2023. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, September 17, 1943 to John and Isabella (Sharp) Jack. While living in St Vital, he met and married Edna (Jones) Jack. They moved to Calgary and there Peter attended SAIT and became a welder, and Edna gave birth to their daughter, Robin. Although they separated, Peter was a vital part of his daughter's life. Peter's talent as a welder enabled him to work in numerous fields, but the design and fabrication of race cars was something he especially loved. Peter also loved the outdoors and, when he was younger, he enjoyed running, hiking and cycling in the summer, and both downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter. Later in life he pursued his love of nature through photography, capturing hundreds of examples of the beauty he found there.
His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his kindness and compassion will endure through the memories he created.
Peter is survived by his daughter Robin Jack-Jensen and her husband Gary Jensen of Toney River, Nova Scotia; three grandchildren Erik Jensen of Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, Conner Jensen of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Lindsay Jensen of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and one sister Mary Buckingham of Banff, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents Isabella and John Jack, and one brother Robert Jack. Cremation has taken place at the Foothills Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society.
