Coad, John Raymond August 13, 1919 – June 4, 2014
John passed peacefully from mortality after a long, productive, and exemplary life on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the age of 94 years. He will be missed by Jean, his wife of almost 69 years, his children Raymond (Patricia), Randy (Cherry), Cheryl (Eric), Leonard (Keltie), Valerie (Cameron), Linda (Richard), and Glen (Jan) as well as 33 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. John was born at Macklin, Saskatchewan, and spent his adult life in Alberta, teaching school in Cold Lake, Glenwood, Taber, and Calgary. He was a dedicated teacher at home, at school, and at church. Gifted with a keen intellect and inquisitive mind, his teaching skills were always evident. John cared deeply about his students, and would always stop to talk to them whenever he encountered them. His best lessons came from his love of everyone he met, and most of all from his actions. John and Jean taught us how to love camping, how to love others, and how to care for others’ needs. A Visitation will be held for John at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Sundance Chapel (100 Sunpark Drive SE, Calgary) on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will then be held at the same location on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with a private family viewing prior to the service. Interment will follow at Okotoks Cemetery.
