Bill Aucoin passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the age of 69 years.
He will be lovingly and fondly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Anne; children, Misty (Dave), Aaron (Ashton), David, Shaunna (Nick) & Mary (Dakota); 12 grandchildren, Tyler, Luke, Destiny, Gerrit, Morgean, David Jr., Mara, Samantha, Victoria, Cameron, Issac & Charlotte; siblings, Jane, Bob, Susan, Dave, John & Tim; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bill is predeceased by his parents, William and Eleanor.
Bill was born in Moncton, NB – second eldest of seven to William and Eleanor Aucoin. He was adventurous and independent from a young age. When he was 17, he decided he wanted to see the country and hitchhiked across North America with just a backpack. He and Anne met and got together in 1980 and shortly after that started their family. They married in 1999 and both worked for Canada Post. Misty, Aaron and David were born in Ontario before the Aucoins relocated to Alberta where Shaunna and Mary were born. He retired in 2006.
Bill was a character and lived a colorful life. He got into doing work as a movie extra where he landed a few small roles in movies and got to meet and hang out with the actors. Bill also really loved music, especially the Beatles. Rumour has it that he snuck into a Beatles concert once. He attended George Brown College to study AV Tech. He collected all manner of technical gadgets – video players, music players, every video gaming device there is which, of course, the kids loved. Anne and the kids joke that his real ‘Baby’, the true love of his life was his motorcycle – his Harley. He just loved to ride. He’d strap on his helmet and Go-Pro, record his routes and upload them to YouTube. Even as his health took its toll, he would find any reason to take his bike out.
Bill had a strong personality. He was opinionated and had no problems telling you what he thought whether you agreed with him or not. It made for some interesting ‘debates’. But it’s also one of his traits that made him so interesting and lovable.
