Josephine Gardose Gabas

Josephine Gardose Gabas passed away at Southwood Hospice in Calgary on March 27, 2024. She was 61 years of age. 

Josephine was born in Candelaria Tapaz, Capiz, Philippines on March 19, 1963. She then immigrated to Canada in the early 80's, reuniting with her sibling in Winnipeg and relocating to Calgary.  

She will be dearly missed by her surviving family members; son, Justin Salve; partner, Fern Belanger; siblings, Lucia Gabas, Angaa Gabas Romano, and Manuel Gabas; along with many extended family and friends in Canada and the Philippines. She is preceded in death by her mother, Adelina Gardose Gabas; father, Manuel G. Gabas Sr.; and siblings, Vecinte G. Gabas, Gloria G. Octavio, Erlinda G. Trias, Lourdes G. Gaas and Teresita Martinez. 

Josephine took on a number of work opportunities including becoming a franchise owner and starting her own home cleaning business. 

Josephine's love for travelling around the world gave her the opportunity to enjoy many adventurous hobbies such as scuba diving, hiking and snowboarding. She had a passion for exploring the outside world and Her warm spirit and passion for exploration touched the hearts of all who knew her. 

Josephine Gardose Gabas leaves behind a legacy of kindness and determination that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished and adored by many. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 - 45 Street SE, Calgary) on Saturday April 27, 2024 at 11:00am.  Visitation will be available starting at 10:00am.  

After Mass, there will be a reception at Pierson's Funeral Service (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary)
