Joyce Elaine Neis

Joyce Neis passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the age of 67 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, John; sons, Tim Neis (Michael) and Todd (Sherry) Neis; grandsons Andrew brother Ron (Janet) Leinweber; sisters, Jeanette Leinweber (Kathy) and Phyllis Leinweber (Ron); cousin Cheryl Humphrey; sister-in-law Marianne Neis; faithful four legged friend Tabu; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Johan & Victor and sister Johan. Joyce was born and raised in Calgary. Shortly after school she met the love of her life John on a blind date and they were married shortly thereafter. Joyce worked as a secretary for the Calgary Public School Board for many years and loved being a social butterfly. She always enjoyed entertaining people and her love of life was felt by all who knew her. Some of her favourite pastimes were golfing, camping, playing cards and volunteering for the Calgary Stampede Visiting Bands committee. She was an excellent baker and her desserts will be missed by all of her family and friends. The family wishes to extend a heart felt thank you to the doctors and staff of the Foothills Hospital, especially Units 37 & 27 in the Special Services Building. A Memorial Service will be held for Joyce at Wild Rose United Church (1317 – 1 Street NW, Calgary and parking restrictions will be lifted for the service) on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Joyce’s name to the Calgary Humane Society (SPCA) (4455 – 110 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2C 2T7).
