Her path continued with the Calgary Police Service in their Security Department and culminated in her retirement from the Planning and Permit Department of Calgary City Hall. Joyce had a zest for life, enjoying numerous hobbies and interests. She was an active member of curling and bowling teams, enjoying those pastimes alongside her mother and Leigh. An avid fan of sports, Joyce passionately supported her favorite teams, the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and the Calgary Flames, often found cheering her teams on with spirited enthusiasm. In addition to sports, she relished her time skiing and golfing, and she found great joy at her cabin, which she cherished for 45 years. The Christmas season held a special place in her heart; her favorite store was The Christmas Store, where she embraced the festive spirit.

Beyond her personal pursuits, Joyce was deeply involved in charitable activities, contributing her time to causes like Crossroads Block Watch and Safety City, and even running for alderman in Calgary. Her commitment to bettering her community was evident throughout her life.
