It is with a heavy heart that we share with our family and friends that our Mom, Joyce Beckley, passed away on July 20, 2021 at the age of 86 years. She was strong, beautiful, generous, and so kind, she was the matriarch and rock of our family. Her family and friends meant absolutely the world to her and she always made sure that they knew it.
Mom started her career as a young hairdresser, then taught hairdressing, and even ended up judging international competitions. Then, when she met our dad Mel, she switched her focus to her family; raising Linda, Larry and Lori. Mom was an amazing cook! Our early years were filled with camping in all seasons, family feasts, and parties with friends. Mom was the queen of beanbags and a shark at cards. After us kids flew from the nest, Mom and Dad began their snow bird years – winters in the southern US and summers in Canada. They had so many wonderful years traveling with friends and family before my Dad passed away in July 2015.
Mom, we don’t know how we will go on without you but (of course) we will find a way because you paved the way, you taught us to be resilient, you taught us to accept life’s journey with grace and humour.
Joyce is survived by her immediate family – son Larry (Jamie), and their children Steven, Tawnya, Serene, Kalahn, Spencer, Kim and Asher; daughter Linda (Bob) and their children Sarah and Katy; and daughter Lori (Allan) and their children Samantha and Scott.
