Katherine Ethel Popowich

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that the family of Katherine Popowich announces her passing on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Katherine is survived by her children Caroline Popowich (Tom Davis), Lorne Popowich (Shannon), Genny Kuhar (Stan), Tony Popowich (Robin), Lori Hughes, Wanda Petrie (Mike); her grandchildren Devin, Nickolas, Bryan (Jessica), Maria, Roanna (Mark), and R.J. (Amy); her great grandchildren Tyson, Tianna, Adalind, and Briella; her fur babies Ed, Boston, Smokey, Kelsey, Jeffrey, Lulu, Taco, Trevfur, Hannah, Toulah, Spidee, Zoey, Gideon, Beans, Lynden, and Bentley; and her dear friends Peter Hughes, Marjorie Solomon, as well as many others. Katherine was pre-deceased by her son Rodney Popowich.

For those who knew Katherine, she was a kind and generous soul who would put everyone else’s needs before her own. She was amazingly resilient, always demonstrating courage and strength when times got tough; she had an ability to continuously see the bright side of every situation. For her family, Katherine was the glue that kept everyone together. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who demonstrated what it was to give unconditional love. To say Katherine was a remarkable person is an understatement, the imprint she has left on this earth shall never be filled, her memory will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A private family service will be taking place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that donations be made to the Alberta Cancer Society (www.albertacancer.ca/donate), in Katherine’s name.
