Weegar, Kathleen Mary July 1, 1949 – November 29, 2014
Beloved wife, sister, daughter, aunt, step-mom, grandma and great grandma, Kathy passed away gently in her sleep November 29, 2014 at the age of 65 years. Treasured always, Kathy will be lovingly remembered by Slim Weegar, her dear husband of 11 years; mother Regina Silk; stepchildren Lori (Ovid) Bartlett and Mike (Allison) Weisbeck; grandchildren Justin (Tara) Hepburn and Jessica Hepburn; great-grandchildren Ethan, Makenzee and Audrey; brother Christopher Silk; sisters Patty Silk, Gail Silk and Barbara (John) Silk-Pelletier; niece Jennifer Pelletier; nephews Michael Silk, Liam Silk, Christopher Caston, Airion Hume and Mathew Pelletier; sister-in-law Maureen Routley; and grand-doggers Toby and Coco. Kathy is predeceased by her father William Silk. The oldest of 5 children, Kathy began her life in Regina, Saskatchewan but moved with her family in her youth to British Columbia, then moving once again with them to Calgary, Alberta. It was in Calgary where she declared home to be. Beginning at a young age Kathy discovered a passion for cooking and baking and over the years she shared many delectable dishes with those she knew and loved. Sewing was another passion of hers and in the years she spent with her husband Slim, she lovingly created many items of clothing for him. Kathy loved to travel, especially with Slim, and it was Hawaii that was an especially favorite place for her. Being incredibly family oriented Kathy was the caring and compassionate matriarch of her family. She always maintained an amazing sense of humor, a playful wit and unending charm. Her memory will live on in those that she loved and those that loved her. A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held on Friday, December 5 at 1:pm at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel. As an alternative to flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (119 – 14 Street N.W. (403) 264-5549).
