MEWHA, LaRae Lucienne (nee Caldwell) January 15, 1935 July 28, 2012
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of LaRae Lucienne Mewha on July 28, 2012 in Calgary after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Cardston, Alberta on January 15, 1935, LaRae was the first daughter and second child born to the late Marion and Lucienne Caldwell of Hillspring, Alberta. She is survived by her loving son Allen (Nicole) of Calgary; siblings, Gordon Caldwell (Sherron) of Cardston, Alberta, Kathleen Remington (Bryce) of Vernon, B. C., Sharon Smith (Ted) of Taber, Alberta, and Claudia Hull (Dave) of Lethbridge, Alberta; and many special nieces and nephews and dear relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Carson Mewha in August, 1971. LaRae was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend. She had a huge capacity to love and was a master at friendships. She loved life and has been a friend to all. She always thought of herself as young and enjoyed the friendships of all ages. She was very involved and showed much kindness, interest and love to her many nieces and nephews. She loved all spectator sports, cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She took great pride in her personal appearance. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has given devoted service to the church, her family and the community throughout her life. LaRae inspired our family and those around her with her courage, kindness, her capacity to love everyone unconditionally, her gentle soul and her generous spirit. As a family we are grateful for the abundance of love and support that we received during her illness from her many friends and church members. A Memorial Service will be held to honour LaRae’s life at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 24th Street Chapel, 10923 24 Street SW, on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers it is her wish that donations be given to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca.
