Leonard Ray Smith

Leonard Smith passed away, surrounded by family on Tuesday November 12, 2019 at the age of 89 years.
He was born in Drumheller and was one of 12 children.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Oscar and Bertha; his wife, Doreen; 7 of his siblings and one daughter.
He will be lovingly remembered by his 4 children; 4 siblings along with many grandchildren and extended family.
Leonard worked for many years at Colgate-Palmolive before retiring when he was 55. Not one to sit still, he took up jobs to keep busy and active.
He was a member at several clubs including the Royal Canadian Legion, the Elks Club and the Calgary Curling Club.
Leonard was an avid golfer right up until this past summer. In the winter, he enjoyed curling. He loved playing and watching sports.
He was a quiet type, often preferring to listen than to talk. He liked to keep busy and maintained an active lifestyle. Leonard, endearingly known to friends as ‘Smitty’, was a wonderful role model to his children and grand-children and will be missed by many.
The Smith family is planning a private memorial for a later date.
