It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, cousin, and friend Levi Holloway. He was called home on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the age of 40. “Spive” was born in Calgary, AB on October 10, 1980.
His sense of humour and smile were as big as his heart. He would always make everyone’s day brighter. He was a gentle soul, full of compassion, and the most giving man you would know.
Levi lived a tremendous life full of adventure. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved more than anything to be outside. From hunting, berry picking, fishing and playing baseball in the summer to snowboarding and ice fishing in the winter. Whenever anyone would ask, where is Spive, you always knew he was doing something outside.
His love for travel led him to becoming a carnie, where he traveled North America going carnival to carnival. That’s where his sense of adventure really shined. Later on, his passion for the great outdoors led him to become a firefighter. He would not only battle raging forest fires, but also worked protecting our forests from the Pine Beetle. At times, Levi and Wayne Saddleback were the only Natives on the crew. Protecting Mother Earth is what he lived for. Every day he would fearlessly walk into the forest, to put the fire out. Firefighting was his greatest act of bravery, and is where many of his proudest moments were made. Descending from a hovering helicopter was just a day at the office for Spive.
All of that aside, the biggest accomplishment in his life was being an older brother to his seven siblings. He took that title very seriously. Being the natural born leader he was, he taught all of his siblings so many valuable things. From archery, swimming and even how to tie their shoes there was nothing he couldn’t teach them, as he knew it all. The love he had for his brothers and sisters was undeniable. Levi was their protector, the one who kept everyone safe.
Not only was he an incredible big brother, he was an amazing son. He was always there to lend his mother a helping hand. No matter what she would ask, Levi would do it with a smile on his face.
His generosity and selflessness will be missed the most.
