After a life of selfless giving, Lois Vivian Sidorsky passed away on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 74.
Lois was born in Trochu, Alberta and lived in Three Hills, Alberta until she was 12 years old. At that point, Lois relocated to Calgary with her parents and siblings. A few years later, Lois would go on to meet her soon to be husband Abe Sidorsky in high school. Lois and Abe remained in Calgary where they ended up raising their own family.
Lois had such a big, loving, heart that was filled with unconditional love for all those who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Lois lifted people up when they were down, she was supportive, wise, and incredibly kind. She always saw the best in people and always provided support without judgement. Lois was a community mother (always lending a hand and ear to the friends of her children), a mentor, and an incredibly loyal friend to many. Her deepest love was her love for her husband and children and later her grandchildren. She adored her family, and they adored her. However, her kindness and caring extended way beyond her immediate family. She was always there to support friends and her extended family, especially Uncle Ray and Uncle Cliff in their later years.
Despite being comfortable and happy creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and others, Lois also loved to explore & travel. She visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, New York and the Caribbean as well as enjoyed many cruises with her husband. Lois also enjoyed accompanying her friends on short getaways to Canmore, curling bonspiels, house-boating excursions, and any other travel opportunities that presented themselves. Lois was up for new experiences and always brought her sense of humour and adventure with her.
Lois was also very creative and loved to paint, make pottery, and crochet comforters for her loved ones. She also loved and doted on the family pets and plants, enjoyed playing solitaire, read good books and was fond of nature and going for walks. Lois particularly loved the holidays as she enjoyed making them special for her family. She did so by decorating Easter eggs, having egg hunts, decorating the tree, making birthday cakes and creating special costumes for celebrations.
Lois was an intelligent, determined and hard-working woman who excelled at whatever she put her mind to. She was very spiritual and believed in the power of energy healing and later became a Reiki Master. Lois also worked as the General Manager at a powder coating plant and as an Accountant for the family business and other businesses.
Lois is survived by her husband Abe Sidorsky; children, Allan Sidorsky (Amanda Davies), Alana Sidorsky (Dave Schmidt), and Brad Sidorsky (Sue Fenske); grandchildren, Emmalea, Tyler, Noah, and Hannah Sidorsky; brother, Ray (Gerlinde) Lea; sister, Joyce (Dirk) Klassen; cousins Lois, Doug, David Hart and Evelyn Rohovich.
She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Albert Lea; Uncles and Aunts, Ray (Annie) Lea, George (Olive) Hart, Harry (Elma) Lea, Dolly (Jake) Usselman, Jack (Emma) Lea, and Cliff Hart; cousins, Jimmy and Doug Lea.
