Ludwig Adam passed away on Wednesday February 27, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his son, Roy (Nola) Adam of Calgary and grandchildren, Lorelei and Sarah. He will be remembered by his nephew, Paul (Linda) Gesse and extended family Alma Kisser, Gordon (Charlotte) and Garnet (Esther) Dishke and Gisela (Wayne) Gregory.
Ludwig was born in Schloss Golau in Poland. He began his education and career as a furniture maker in Pruegge, Germany before coming to Canada in 1952 sponsored by the Lutheran Church. He worked for about 1 year in Winnipeg. Ludwig then moved to Hamilton, Ontario and worked for Nicholson & Co. He met Erna Dueschke and they married in 1956. After living on Victoria Street in Hamilton for a few years, Ludwig and Erna started a kitchen cabinet making business near Stoney Creek, Ontario. He retired in 1984 to a self built home near Millgrove and moved to Kelowna, British Columbia in 1990.
Ludwig had many hobbies and talents including beekeeping and gardening. He grew colourful flowers on his veranda at Mackenzie Towne Assisted Living Residence and Mountain View Residence in Kelowna prior to coming to Calgary. He was an accomplished craftsman and builder building 2 homes in Ontario, 1 cottage on Lake Erie and a cottage in BC.
Ludwig is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Erna; his parents, Anna and Jakob Adam; siblings, Erna Gesse, Trude Gesse, Erwin Adam, Edmund Adam, Gustav Adam and numerous nieces and nephews.
