Luigi Guidi passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the age of 83 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years Antoinette; son Lorenzo (Wendy) Guidi; grandsons Levi (Jassie) and Elia (Jeni); great grandchildren Joclyn, Landon, Anna and Enzo; and many more family and friends including several “adopted” children and grandchildren. Luigi was born in Rocca San Casciano, Forli, Italy, the youngest of six children. Living through WWII in Italy, he started working at the age of 8 years mixing the mortar for the brick layers. When work was hard to find in post war Italy, he moved to France and found employment there. While working there he met and married the love of his life Antoinette and they were blessed with their son Lorenzo. In 1967 they moved to Canada and made Calgary their home. Through his working years he was a carpenter and worked on much of the buildings in downtown Calgary. Luigi will be remembered as a hard worker that loved his family and all those that he could serve. His family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Mouhieddin (Dean) Traboulsi and the staff of the Foothills Hospital Cardiac Unit and Dr. Jackie Safran for all of their exceptional care. A Celebration of Luigi’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Calgary Stake Centre (2021 – 17 Avenue SW, Calgary) on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00 am. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Luigi to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.com).
