On Sunday, February 7, 2016 we welcomed our perfect little princess, Lyla Jane, into our family. Over the next 8 months she traveled across the world and brought joy and light into the lives of all who knew her. After her courageous battle with liver disease and while awaiting transplant, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 our little yellow jellybean passed away peacefully in the arms of her parents Tyson and Sarah Merrill. She will be lovingly remembered by her parents; brother Enzo; grandparents Scott & Janielee Williamson and Curtis & Kansie Merrill, great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as the many others whose lives she touched.
Lyla was a happy girl, her smile was not limited to her perfect little lips or her gorgeous, sparkling eyes – her light emanated to all who knew her. She showed courage and strength throughout all her trials. She greatly enriched everyone’s life who came in contact with her. Her presence and example has changed the lives of those that were close to her throughout her journey.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing teams at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, Alberta Children’s Hospital, Calgary, Alberta as well as the Transplant Team and Unit 4C at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, Edmonton Alberta and all who brought Lyla joy through music and play during this time. Our lives were also immensely blessed by our “Ronald McDonald” family.
A Celebration of her short sweet life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Cochrane Chapel (1100 Gleneagles Drive, Cochrane) on Wednesday, November 2 at 10:00 am, with Visitation starting at 9:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Lyla’s honour at www.rmhcna.org/donate by clicking on “Tribute Gift”
