Our mother, grandmother and family matriarch, Margaret Ann Payne, celebrated the new year on Saturday, January 1, 2022 by returning to her Father in Heaven and into the waiting arms of the love of her life and eternal companion, Howard.
Margaret was born December 26, 1934 in Granger, Utah to Richard Grant Bawden and Ivy Inkley Bawden. She was the last of five children. After serving as a LDS missionary to the Great Lakes mission, She married Howard Payne on July 20, 1960 in the Cardston Temple. Howard whisked her away from Utah after a 3-week courtship to spend their married life in Canada where they shared 49 happy years together.
Margaret was kind and patient, all the while raising her 2 boys (3 boys if you include Dad). Despite having a quiet spirit, she loved to surround herself with friends and family. She had a love for her walks and being in nature. Margaret always had a great sense of humor and despite her memory failing in her later years, she kept her fun nature. Always a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be especially missed by her children Keith (Holly) Payne, Mike (Nadine) Payne; and grandchildren Derian, Brooklyn, and Kiefer. She is preceded in her eternal rest by her loving husband Howard, her parents, and brothers Sterling, Robert and Howard Bawden and sister Virginia Latimer.
A Funeral Service will be held for Margaret at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 17 Ave SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. A live-stream of the funeral will be held via this link
