It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Francis announce her passing on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the age of 75 years. Joan, a registered nurse, practiced nursing until 1978. Joan had a passion for life and planned something fun into every day. She loved animals, golf, bridge, card games, reading, and sharing a laugh with friends and family. Joan’s smile and laughter brightened everyone’s day. She will be missed by all that loved her. The following is the obituary Joan wrote before her death: I was born the second eldest of 6 daughters to loving parents Chris and Gene Burton on November 14, 1940 in Edmonton, Alberta. I had a carefree childhood as long as I had my pets, which made me totally unaware of any problems in the household. I graduated from the Misericordia Hospital in 1961 and married Dennis Francis the same weekend. Dennis’ work took us to many interesting and beautiful places including Singapore, Rio de Janeiro, Malaysia and Houston. Dennis and I took different paths in 1990. I am survived by my loving, supportive companion and friend Dale Butler. Two blessed daughters – Krista and her husband Paul Poscente, Allison and her husband Gary Braun. My friend and father of those daughters Dennis. Also my beloved grandchildren Michael, Dana and Sophia Poscente, Lucas and Matthew Braun. My sisters Betty Anne and her husband Norman Leaf, Barb and her husband Don Muir, Sandy and her husband Ross McLeod, Debbie Burton and my many nieces and nephews. I was predeceased by my parents, and my sister Frances who passed away in 2010, and my many beautiful animals. I have had a good journey which has been enhanced by many friends whom I cherished and am grateful for. There will be no funeral, memorial or celebration of my life or any occasion in commemoration of my life or death.
