Margaret "Lynn" Lancaster

The family of Lynn (Margaret) Lancaster are sadden to share the news of her passing on Friday, December 22, 2023.  

Lynn will be missed and remembered by her husband Jim, her two children Christine (Dave) and Debra (Terry), her five grandchildren Darcy, Amanda (Michael), Austin, Caitlin (Derek), Geordy, her four siblings, Diane (Lou), Jackie, David (Mei), Christine, and her nine great-grandchildren.  
 
Lynn was predeceased by her parents Harold and Molly McCarthy and her brother-in law Edward Paskewich.  

Lynn was a very social person. She would strike up a conversation with anyone and anywhere. Lynn loved attending the social events and card games at the lodge where she lived at. In fact, when COVID came around besides being locked up a few times, her biggest frustration was not being able to play cards with the girls.  

Lynn loved to help out and would always put her hand up to volunteer. She volunteered her time at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in the gift shop, and decorating for holidays at the lodges where she lived. Lynn would also volunteer to assist at the long-term care centre next to her lodge. When new people would come to live at the lodge, she loved giving them a tour and would purchase a little gift for each of them to help them feel welcomed.  

Lynn also loved doing crafts. When she was younger, Lynn did many pieces of ceramics. She loved to crochet and knit dish clothes and blankets for her children, grandchildren and friends. Later in life Lynn took up painting and diamond painting. She would spend hours doing her diamond paintings and was very good at them.  

Lynn’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she was very proud of.  

Her children would like to thank the staff at the Bethany Riverview for their amazing care of  our mom these last four months and in her final few days.  

We ask that floral tributes are gratefully declined, in lieu of flowers that a donation in Lynn's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada at Alzheimer.ca.  

Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service at Pierson Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta on December 30, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.   Cremation has taken place at the Foothills Crematorium.
