Margaret Mary Bain (Nee Nikota)

Margaret Bain passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the age of 99 years. Margaret was survived by her daughter Donna Scott for only a few days as Donna passed away June 2, 2022. Margaret is survived by her siblings Ann Juba, Marvin Nikota (Iolene) and Cheryl Banner; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Walter, grandson Sean, and siblings Lee Rigby, Elsie Hudson, Gladys Cummings, Bernice Fortier and Edward Nikota.

Margaret was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, the eldest of a large Ukrainian farming family. After finishing school, she moved to Winnipeg, where she met and married Walter Bain and together they moved to Calgary to settle and raise their family. Margaret worked at Eaton’s for many years. She took great care of herself, ensuring her hair was done weekly and dressing regally for every occasion. All of her footwear had high heels! Margaret was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was deeply involved and had many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, (4121, 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Friday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m.  Cremation has taken place at Foothills Crematorium.
