Maria Olinda Ferreira passed away peacefully in Calgary on the evening of Friday, January 3, 2020, with her family by her side.
Linda was born on April 27, 1950, in Sanfins Do Douro, Portugal, married on August 21, 1971, and moved to Calgary, Canada, in 1973 with her husband, two sons, mother and brother. She quickly gained employment at ATCO Trailers, and throughout the years, she held several other jobs.
In her spare time, she loved to travel, fish, camp, boating and spend time cooking. Her favourite quiet pastime would be spent knitting and creating beautiful blankets, sweaters, socks and table cloths.
In her retirement years, she split her time between Canada and Portugal, while in Canada, her varied pastime was fishing out at Severn Dam and spending time with her Grandchildren. While she was in Portugal, she loved spending time at the farm and exploring Europe, visiting Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg and the Madeira Islands. One of her favourite adventures was visiting Isreal on her 40th wedding anniversary, where she had a mass dedicated to them.
Linda is survived by her husband Nuno, sons Beno and Nuno and brother Joaquim. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Vanessa, Miguel and Grayson.
Linda will be missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service to be held January 25 in Portugal.
