COSTA, Maria Teresa September 25, 1928 June 1, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Teresa on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 84 years. This wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother is survived by her beloved daughter Margarida (Brian) and their children Natalie (Ryan), Jennifer (Brent); and son John (Dianne) and their daughter Michelle (Byron) and their children Brady and Thomas. Maria is also survived by one brother Laudalino Pontes; two sisters Francelina and Gilda; and sister-in-law Aurelia. She was predeceased by her husband Joao; grandson John Paul; four brothers; and three sisters. Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal and came to Canada with her family in 1966 to start a new life. She leaves us with lovely memories; her talent for creating exquisite crocheted items, a bountiful garden, and lovely meals – always waiting for us. Maria lived her life as a caretaker, always generously there for others. A special thanks to the Emergency Department and Unit 81 staff at the Foothills Hospital and staff of Walden Heights Extended Care Center for their compassionate care and support. Prayers will be held at Our lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 30 Street SE) Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass celebrated at the same location on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
