Marilyn Cameron passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the age of 85 years. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her son Gerald Langan (Ruth) of Calgary; daughter Kathleen Cameron (Robin Johnson), of Calgary; grandchildren Stephanie Langan, Jerry Cameron and Wayne Cameron; great-grandchildren Jaden, Chloe, Brooklyn and Cooper; two step-children Ken Cameron and Mary Cameron; a brother Gerald LaFrance; special niece and nephews: Stella, Randy (Doreen), Frank (Trina) and Wayne (Verona); and many additional nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; and a large extended family, many of whom are on the Siksika Nation.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Edward Cameron; a long-time companion Harry Chuba; a son Bobbie Turning Robe; Grandson Dylan Cameron; and parents Helen Ryan and Gerald Turning Robe. Marilyn was also predeceased by three brothers Frank, Robert and Chubby; and a sister Esther.
Marilyn was a wonderful homemaker and loved looking after her children and adopted children. She was especially good at arts and crafts and loved to crochet. She also loved attending bingo, going out to eat and any occasion to socialize. Watching movies and DVDs were a favourite past time. For many years, Marilyn was a volunteer with the Calgary Counseling Centre. Her indigenous heritage was important to her. Marilyn had a fighting spirit as a survivor of the Crowfoot Residential School, as she battled cancer, a heart attack, stroke, pneumonia and Covid-19 to live to age 85! We will miss her and the close relationship that she had with her family.
The family extends their thanks and gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Agecare Skypointe and the Peter Lougheed Centre for their kindness and care of Marilyn during these final years.
A Funeral Service will be held for Marilyn at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 17 Ave SE, Calgary) on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:30 pm. For those who may not be able to attend in person, the service will be live broadcast at
