Marion was born in Ottawa, ON, then moved to Vancouver, BC where she was raised. She met and married her true love and friend, Jack Moon, in 1939. They started their family in Vancouver and moved to Calgary in1950, which has been her home ever since.
Marion was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed reading, traveling, entertaining, fashion, live theatre, continuing education classes, bridge, yoga and volunteering. She volunteered with many organizations, including the Junior League, Meals on Wheels and the Glenbow Museum. She threw amazing dinner parties and truly loved delicious homemade meals with her family gathered around her fancy, beautifully decorated tables. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, music and theatre. Marion’s family will forever remember the amazing trips they took with her and Jack, whether it was downhill skiing, visiting family far away, or just fun getaways.
She had tremendous strength and resiliency, well-paired with a great sense of humour. Marion loved to laugh and her easy going personality ensured that she made friends everywhere she went.
Marion’s family would like to express their gratitude to her caregiver and friend, Elsa Waterhouse, and also the staff at Staywell Manor and Unity Home Care for the exceptional care they provided. Due to Marion’s wishes there will be no service. There will be a private family gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families.
