Maurice Yingst passed away at the age of 80 years in Calgary, AB at Skypoint Care Facility on November 22, 2019. He will be forever remembered by his wife, Kay; children Glenn (Tamara) Yingst, Laurie (Cameron) Fuller, and Brenda (Brad) Edwards; his grandchildren Dallas (Shawna), Cassidy (Adam), Corey, Cole (Hannah), Brett (Stephanie), Zane, Teagan, Finn and Theo; siblings Sharon (Norman) Juell, Gerald (Mavis) Yingst, Beverly (Allan) McMullen and Janice (Scott) Summerfeldt; and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his son Bradley Yingst and brother Larry Yingst.
Maurice was born and raised in Khedive, Sk. He led a full life that touched many people. Generous with his time and money. He was always busy working on something. Although he never made it past grade 8, he never let it hold him back. Carpentry school, Bible school and becoming a successful businessman with Town and Country Propane and Homes by Morris.
After a tumultuous beginning he wasn’t expected to survive and poor health as a child, open heart surgery at the age of 42 gave him a new lease on life. A real energizer bunny, he just kept going and going. All the things he was never able to do as a young adult he did in middle age. Baseball, skiing, snowmobiling, water skiing, parasailing.
A Godly man who lived out his Christian faith to the fullest, he had a profound love for the church. He spent many hours working on church buildings, both at home and in Mexico. With a ready smile and ability to talk to anyone, he holds a special place in many hearts. Jesus gained a gem in his company.
A Celebration of Maurice’s life will be held at Calgary Full Gospel Church (917 14 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
