Michael Andre Vesterfelt was born on Saturday, June 16 1962 in Peterborough, Ontario and passed on Thursday, October 10, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 62.
Michael was born in St. Joseph's Hospital to Veronica and Gerald and baptized in the Catholic faith. Although he didn't believe in the church, he was a firm believer in God. A belief he carried throughout his life and the many miles he travelled and lived across Canada.
He attended Price of Wales school in his formative younger years and later moved to Toronto, Ontario along with his family.
They traveled often and attended a variety of different schools which lent to the many friends and experiences along the way. Michael's mother, Veronica, later moved the family from Ontario to the beautiful prairies of Alberta, settling down in Cochrane. Adventure was in Michael's blood and he traveled often from warm coastal waters of British Columbia, across the vast prairies, to the Great Lakes and back again. No matter where he traveled, he always returned to his home here in Alberta.
Michael was an avid wood worker and could create anything with his hands. This led him to spend the majority of his life working construction.
He loved visualizing a project and seeing it come to completion. He was artistically skilled with a pencil and paper and enjoyed the beautiful side of nature. He often loved to soak up the fresh air while camping. Michael was a big guy with a big heart. Always ready to lend a hand. Always trying to make things easier and better for everyone. So much so that he was known around his rooming house as “the Peacemaker”.
Michael is survived by his mother Veronica; Sisters Deborah and Dale; Daughter Tatianna; Nieces Colleen and Danielle (Sebastian); Nephews Corey, Matthew and Justin.
He is predeceased by his father Gerald; Aunt May; Paternal grandparents Amelia and Wilfred; Maternal great grandparents Edith and Amie and Maternal grandmother Cecilia.
Michael will be dearly missed by his family and many friends both near and far.
The family ask that in memory of Michael, please donate to Fresh Start Recovery House
