Michelle Kalin passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the age of 54 years.
Michelle was born in Calgary, Alberta, grew up in Sparwood, British Columbia, and graduated from Sparwood Secondary High School in 1986. She loved playing sports, especially figure skating and track and field, hanging with her numerous friends, and swimming in the family pool.
Michelle moved to Kamloops, British Columbia in 1992 and began working at 7-Eleven before beginning her career at Costco Wholesale in November 1994. She started in the Majors Department and eventually became Warehouse 161’s full-time Payroll Clerk. Michelle was so passionate about her job at Costco and made sure that each employee felt like family. She moved to Calgary in 2004 to help her mom take care of her brother Darren, who was beginning taken care of at home after a tragic accident in high school. She stayed with Costco Wholesale upon her return to Calgary, but made a career change when she started at Transcontinental Printing as the company’s new Payroll Administrator. Michelle made sure to check in with the employees at Transcontinental every day, and was always there to lend an ear to talk to, or a hug when they needed it.
She loved to spend her summers at Shuswap Lake at the family Lake House. She loved watching the lake and seeing duck bums flashing her. Entertaining her friends who would visit her throughout the summer and would make the most amazing meals, share many laughs, float quietly on the lake or even just watching the houseboats come and go always brought her joy. Michelle made friends where ever she was and so many of those became lifelong friends. She is grateful for all those who loved her.
Michelle is survived by her sister, Laurie Dudley; nieces, Amanda (Jose) Viezcas, Taylor Colman; nephew, Jack (Yessi) Dudley; godson, Tyson Colman; close friends, Renée (Murray) Colman, Michelle (Stacy) Van Sickle, Tena Lamanski, Renea Dennis, and so many other dear friends who touched her life in so many wonderful ways. She was predeceased by her father, Denis and her birth mother, Rose; her Dad Vern & Mom, Elida Noren; sister Dawn Noren; brother, Darren Noren; as well as her grandparents.
