Wood, Mildred (nee Roberts) April 12, 1917 – July 7, 2014

Mildred Wood passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the age of 97, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Lincoln A. Wood in 1999; her parents Thomas King Roberts and Mary Eliza Witbeck; and siblings Margaret Kennedy, John Roberts, Gordon Roberts, Mary Beth Webb and David Roberts.

Mildred will be dearly missed by her son Thomas Wood (Della Mae); daughter Suzanne Neilson (Gary); a sister Sheila McLennan (Don); grandchildren Sean Wood (Elana), Stephen Wood (Amy), Kristen Nash (Peter), Jonas Neilson (Romi), Stefan Neilson (JoDee), Maja Russell (Paul) and Woody Neilson (Laura); and by twenty three great-grandchildren.

Mil was born in Magrath and raised in Raymond, Alberta. There she married Lincoln and they began their dynamic 62-year partnership. They both worked in the head office of the Canadian Sugar Factories in Raymond. In 1961, they moved to Lethbridge and in 1970 to Vancouver to follow their careers with the same company. They returned to the Calgary area in 1989 for retirement. Mildred had a great passion for life, fiercely loyal to family and friends. She had exacting standards for herself and others. She was a hard-working, strong woman, bright and capable, who brought people together. Her greatest joy was her family. In small and great ways, we will miss her.

A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Raymond Stake Centre, Raymond, AB on Saturday, July 12 at 1:00 pm. Family and friends may gather from 12:00 to 12:45 pm. Interment will follow at the Temple Hill Cemetery.
