Montez Cooper

November 28, 1934 — May 28, 2012

COOPER (nee Henderson) Montez November 28, 1934 May 28, 2012 Montez Cooper, beloved wife of Jim Cooper, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2012 at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Montez will be greatly missed by her husband Jim; their children Marla Wagner (Ed) of Baltimore, MD, Kendall (Christine) of Dublin, CA, Brad (Teri) of Dove Canyon, CA and Todd (Nancy) of Calgary; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her sister Ruth Rothe and many other dear relatives and friends. Montez loved life and has been a friend to all. She is the youngest of eleven children born to Maude and Albert Henderson in Mountain View, Alberta. She was a young hairdresser when she married her sweetheart, Jim, in 1953 in the LDS Cardston, Alberta temple. Jim tells all, “She is the love of my life”. She often remarked that together their life adventure was “beyond my greatest dreams”. The young family moved to Calgary in 1957 where she has given 55 years of devoted service to family, church and community. Her most cherished times were with family and traveling the world with her husband. Always a good sport, she enjoyed both snow and water skiing and spending time with family at Shuswap Lake. Montez is her grandchildren’s biggest fan and her greatest desire is to be together with them as an eternal family. The Cooper family is grateful for the abundant love and support from family, friends, church members and caregivers at Southwood Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Pierson’s Funeral Service, 4121 17 Avenue S.E. on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Parkland Chapel, 14540 Parkland Blvd. S.E. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 am. There will also be a viewing before the service from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Okotoks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Cooper family requests that contributions be made to The Humanitarian Aid Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at www.LDSP.org or by calling 800-525-8074.
