Muriel Jean Goian

Muriel, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend, passed away peacefully with family around her at Carewest Sarcee on May 28, 2015 at the age of 80 years. Muriel was born in Iron Springs, now incorporated into Lethbridge, Alberta on October 20, 1934 and lived there until she met her future husband, Nicholas Goian, and moved to Calgary to start a family. Muriel unselfishly put family first. Muriel enjoyed sewing, reading, swimming, baking and collecting elephants. She was a quiet, unassuming women who was loved and respected by all. She worked 20 years for Eaton’s before retiring in 1998. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Nick, and youngest brother, Neil Fraser and sister Joy. Muriel leaves behind her brother Robert. Muriel will be lovingly remembered by family, friends and children, Patricia (Gregory), Bonnie (Michael) and Barry (Gwyn) and by her grandchildren, Nacime (Marisa) and Evan (Misha) and her great-grandson, Zakai. Information regarding a tribute and celebration to Muriel will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
