Murray Nixon passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Colleen Nixon (Leslie), David Wilson (Mary), Holly Smith, Kelly Wilson (Susan), and Frank Wilson (Laurie); grandchildren Jacob (Natasha), Tia (Dennis), David (Amilia), Mary (Scott), Stephanie, Victoria (Robert), Jason (Austin), Edward, Christopher (Melissa), Katrina (D'Arcy), and Samantha (Jonathan); several great grandchildren; sisters Margaret Curry and Mary Melrose, both of Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents William & Elsie Nixon and brothers George, Donald, Glen and James.
Murray was born in St Vincent, ON and raised in Grey County, ON. He joined the Military shortly after finishing school and was a Gunner in the Army. After his service he eventually moved to Alberta making Calgary his home. He worked hard and eventually became a ticketed welder, which is what he spent his life doing for the remainder of his working career. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and the outdoors.
A Celebration of Murray's life will be held at the Inglewood Community Hall (1740 - 24 Ave SE, Calgary) on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 pm. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Veteran's Food Bank (
