Nancy Lou Jensen (Nee Jamieson)

Nancy Jensen passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the age of 89 years. She will lovingly remembered by her children, Karen Jensen (David) of Ottawa, ON, Patricia Jensen (Don), of Vancouver, BC, and Paul Jensen, of Toronto, ON; eight grandchildren, Mikayla Jensen-Large, Thomas Jensen-Large, Isaac Jensen-Large, Olivia Jensen-Large, Noah Jensen, Ethan Jensen, Owen Jensen Fitzpatrick and Aidan Jensen Fitzpatrick; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Ada Jamieson, father Morley Jamieson and daughter Maureen Jensen.

Nancy was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 2, 1934 to Ada and Morley Jamieson. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1952, where she developed a love of choral music that continued throughout her life. Nancy married Torben Jensen in 1957 and had four children: Karen, Maureen, Patricia and Paul. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology from the University of Manitoba in 1986. Nancy was a dedicated mother and advocate for women’s empowerment. She worked with Christian groups throughout her life in service to her communities, friends and family. After graduating with her degree, Nancy worked with Women’s Employment and Immigration Services in Winnipeg , developing many meaningful relationships. Her volunteer work with the YWCA took her to China in 1996 for the Women’s International Congress. She returned to Calgary in 2000 to be close to her grandchildren. Nancy will be remembered for her strength in adversity, kindness, and laughter. Her smile was infectious, and her care was genuine.

A Funeral Service will be held for Nancy at First Alliance Church – Deerfoot (12345 – 40 Street S.E., Calgary) on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 9:00 am. The interment of the urn will take place at Queens Park Cemetery following the service.
