Nellie was born in Insinger, SK and raised by a mother she dearly loved with her 3 sisters and 2 brothers in Rama, SK. She met and married the love of her life, Henry, in Rama and they then traveled to Ontario and then Calgary where they were blessed with their 12 children. They eventually moved to Nellie’s dream home on an acreage in Chestermere. She raised her younger children there and cared for her vegetable garden, flowers, houseplants and farm animals all the while supporting her husband.
Nellie took pride in baking and meal preparation for her family. They all loved coming home for perogies, cabbage rolls, cookies, cinnamon buns and poppy seed rolls, just to name a few. Nellie loved to volunteer and help others. She was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church since before the church was built and a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Women’s League where she just received her 50 year pin. She also volunteered at Holy Trinity School and later Conrich Elementary School. This care was even more so with her family as she cared for and loved all of them dearly throughout her life, including never missing a phone call on their birthday to sing them Happy Birthday.
