Howie, Norman William June 24, 1929 – March 21, 2014 Norman Howie passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the age of 84 years. He will be dearly missed by his wife Thelma; seven children Alex Howie (Linda) of Regina, SK, Fran Toolsie (Joey), of Vernon, BC, Collin Howie (Edwina) of Calgary, Neil Howie (Tracy) of Kelowna, BC, Michelle Khlaifi (Mahmoud), Lorne Howie (Angie) and Lorna Howie, all of Calgary; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother Alan; sister Marjorie (Wallace); and many other relatives and friends. Norman was predeceased by three sons Gordon, Gary and Charles. Norman was born and raised in Falher, northern Alberta moving to Medicine Hat while in High School. He moved to Utah for 3 years, returning to Calgary where he met and married his sweetheart Thelma. Norman had a 32 year career with the City of Calgary in their fleets division. He loved wood working and has left many treasures behind, and also loved music playing the violin as a fiddler. Norman was a proud recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Metal. He was kind, gentle, loving, positive, and in the words of his daughters: “The greatest man I ever knew”. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE on Tuesday, March 25 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Panarama Chapel, 155 Panamount Blvd NW on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at10:30 am. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
