Nurae Peterson

September 9, 1933 — July 12, 2017

Nurae Peterson passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the age of 83 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Ronald Peterson; sons Brent (Tami) Peterson, Greg (Deborah) Peterson, Douglas Peterson and Darren (Michelle) Peterson; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Lillian Baldry; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Harold & Lillian Karren and 5 siblings. Nurae was born in Magrath, AB. In her teen years her family made Lethbridge her home where she met her future husband Ron Peterson. They soon after made Calgary their home and they were blessed with four sons. Nurae was a wife and mother first throughout her life. She lovingly supported all of her boys in their athletic and other activities. She was lovingly called “Mamma Pete” by many who were welcomed into their home. That same caring and serving spirit was seen in all aspects of Nurae’s life especially as she served in the LDS church. For 19 years she worked closely with the Calgary Drop-in Center to help collect and coordinate the delivery of over 1 million sandwiches for those in need. A Funeral Service will be held for Nurae at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Parkland Stake Center (14540 Parkland Blvd. SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11:00 am with visitation from 9:00-10:30am. Internment will follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name (www.cancer.ca).
