Olga Jean Kettler left this world on Sunday June 26, 2022 suddenly but quietly and peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 86. She is pre-deceased by her siblings; Edna Wall of Wymark SK, John Banman of Calgary AB, Eva Banman of Edmonton AB, and Heinrich Banman of Wymark SK, and survived by Henry Banman of Swift Current, SK. Jean was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was born to Klaas and Helena Wall on February 1, 1936. However, she never met her father as he was killed in an auto accident four months before she was born. She was raised in the Wymark area of Saskatchewan. At the age of 16 she moved to Swift Current SK, where she met her love, Peter Kettler. They married in 1955, and were later blessed with their firstborn son, Kevin. followed by son Mark, who passed at birth. Cyndie and Jonathon followed 4 and 8 years later. In 1966 they moved their family to the “big city of Calgary” for better opportunities. Jean would say “Best decision we ever made”. Mom loved her family first and foremost and sacrificed her own needs for them. Mom suffered lifelong with migraines, yet that did not stop her from taking care of her family, working full-time, attending to church responsibilities and quietly serving others in any capacity she could. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 58 years, never wavering in her testimony of Jesus Christ. She served in both the Cardston and Calgary Temples for 12 years, her most enjoyable service that she wished would never end. At 78, she served a mission for 18 months. Something Jean was honoured to do and never thought possible. She was an example of goodness and kindness to everyone she met and associated with. She was a strong woman. She loved strong. She cared strong. She served strong. She will be dearly missed. Jean is survived by her children; Kevin (Mandy) Kettler of Cardston AB, Cyndie (Allan) Vance of Calgary AB, and Jonathon Kettler of Edmonton AB. As well as 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
