With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sidney James "Jim" Weale on Monday, December 30, 2024 at the age of 78 years, followed one day later with the passing of his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Weale, on Tuesday, December 31, at the age of 85 years.
Patricia and Jim were entering their 50th year of marriage. They were married on April 26, 1975. Their shared love and devotion to each other were evident in the way they spent their lives side by side.
Their most cherished activity was competing in Sheltie Dog Shows, a passion they pursued together for many years. They loved their Shelties, enjoyed dressing them up, and earned numerous "Best of Breed" awards while traveling across Canada and the United States.
In his earlier years, Jim was an avid fisherman, often sharing this love with his children. He took great joy in teaching his son Randy the wonders of fishing and creating lasting memories through their adventures. Jim also enjoyed long conversations with his children, especially during long drives. A dedicated darts player, Jim’s love for competition extended to Nascar, which he watched with great enthusiasm.
Patricia, adventurous and fearless, made her mark as a racehorse jockey in British Columbia before transitioning to horse ownership, where she taught horseback riding to local community members. Her love for nature extended to gardening, with a special fondness for flowers, a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life.
As parents, Jim and Patricia found joy in family camping trips, where their summers were filled with games, laughter, and quality time, especially enjoying their favorite game, Crib. They raised four children, and were proud grandparents and great-grandparents. Although they struggled with the loss of two of their adult children, they still connected with others and were grateful for the legacy of their family.
Together, they really enjoyed travelling, especially their regular visits to Ossoyoos and Kelowna, British Columbia, to spend time with Patricia’s family. Jim and Patricia leave behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of their family and friends.
Jim and Patricia are survived by two of their children, Rick of British Columbia, and Randy (Linda) of Calgary, Alberta; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Nicole, and Skylar all of Calgary, Alberta; 4 great-grandchildren; Also left to mourn is Patricia’s sister, Doreen Keller of Kelowna, B.C.
They were predeceased by their daughters, Leanne and Lyndell, both of Calgary, Alberta.
