LUNAN, Patricia Mae April 19, 1945 November 2, 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pat Lunan of Langdon, beloved wife, mother and Nana, on November 2, surrounded by her family and closest friends. Pat is survived by her husband Dale; her son Aaron Cowan and his wife Tracy (Rebecca and Sarah); her daughter Michelle Chiu and her husband David (Brandon, Alyssa and Anika); her mother Bernadette Haggerty of Morden, Manitoba; brothers, Garry and his wife Rosemarie of Morden, Michael and his wife Bernie of Maple Ridge, Saskatchewan, and Edward of Saskatoon; sister Barb Wesner and her husband Wally of Winnipeg; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Vern in 1993. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Pat had a long and fulfilling career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, from which she took early retirement in 2003 to spend more time with her grandchildren. A devoted Nana to Rebecca, Sarah, Brandon, Alyssa and Anika and surrogate Nana to Madison and Colby, Pat’s world revolved around her family, and there was nothing she would not do to help and support them, from volunteering as a dance chaperone to sewing dance and Halloween costumes on a regular basis. Even through most of her illness, she always had time to help with homework, and was a calming and comforting presence. Pat’s family would like to extend special thanks to the emergency room staff at Peter Lougheed Centre, including Dr. Anton, and most especially to the medical team of the Lougheed ICU staff: Dr. Hulme, Dr. Zuege, Dr. Swedlo and Dr. Meghan O’Connell; all the nurses and therapists who helped care for Pat, including Kiwi Deb, Deb B., Bonnie V., Carolina, Stella, Bradley, Dennis, Albert, Luis and many others. Your efforts were remarkable and your care and compassion for Pat and her family will always be remembered. A Memorial Service will be held at Pierson’s Garden of Peace Chapel (16 Avenue and Garden Road/100 Street NE) on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation #100, 119 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
