Patrick Hunt passed away on Tuesday September 28, 2021 at the age of 80 years.
He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara since 1984; parents, John and Mary; and sister, Maura. He will be lovingly and fondly remembered by his 3 children, Anthony (Kerstin) Hunt; Jason (April-Lee) Hunt and Fiona (Jason) Butler; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Nathaniel, Andrew, and Zoe; 2 great grandchildren, Lydia and Elsie; siblings, Kit, Seamus and Ita; his son in England, Michael (Deb) Staton and their family; along with extended family in Ireland and England.
Patrick was born and raised in Ireland. He and Barbara immigrated to Canada in the late 60’s, initially to Winnipeg before settling in Calgary. He worked as a cement mason and earned his Journeyman Certificate. In his younger years, he played a wide variety of sports from handball to hurling to football. He loved dance and music. Most of all, he loved his family, interested and inquiring as what was going on their lives and what they were up to. Patrick was very devoted to his Catholic faith. When he was no longer able to attend Mass, he watched it every day.
He was practical, outspoken, sometimes disagreeable. In his later years, he softened quite a bit, becoming quite lovable, encouraging, and appreciative to those around him.
The Hunt family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Brentwood Care Centre and The Foothills Medical Centre for kindness and caring.
Donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society. (
