Paul Samuel Pakosz passed away on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at the age of 88 years.
Paul is predeceased by 3 older siblings, who died back in the old country while their father worked in Canada to save money to bring his wife and kids over. He is also predeceased by a younger brother, Mike.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Annamae; nine children, Paulette, Jean, Judy (Roy), Susan (Rob), Carol, David (Tracey), Patricia (Brian), Matthew (April) & Reginald (Kylie); 11 grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Laura, Jocelyn, Kelly, Caleb, Spencer, Rachel, Caitlin, Aiden & Monique; and a brother, Billy (Kay).
Paul was born in Collington, AB, the son of Ukrainian immigrants. As a child, he earned money by trapping squirrels and selling their pelts. He left home at 15 to work on the oil rigs, which took him to Gull Lake, SK. He met Annamae Yates, they married and together they raised nine children. Paul loved taking things apart and fixing them, which led to him becoming a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic. In the early 90’s, he sustained a back injury at the Kaiser coal mines in Elkford BC. The Pakosz family relocated to Calgary where Paul began a career in sales – a job that was a great fit for him as he loved to talk and tell stories. This trait was carried on to the end as a regular at the local pub. Paul loved spending time with his 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was very tolerant and permissive of the grandchildren’s shenanigans which surprised his children who were all raised in a strict environment. Several of Paul’s children are now employing this same technique with their own grandkids. Paul was a hard worker, very independent and insisted on doing things for himself, right up to the day he passed at his home of 47 years. He was also proud of the fact he never spent a night in the hospital.
Rest now Dad, and let the angels do the heavy lifting.
