Thorpe, Pearl Catherine July 15, 1933 – November 30, 2013 Pearl Thorpe passed away suddenly on November 30, 2013 at the age of 80. She will be dearly missed by her only daughter Brenda & Charles De Gagne; beloved grandson Kyle Thorpe (Danielle), of Calgary; Charles’ daughter Alexa De Gagne, and son David and Derrique De Gagne, and their children Ivy and Elliott, all of Edmonton. Pearl is also survived by her sister Polly Hoey of Brandon, MB; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family is grateful to our dear friends and neighbours; and special longtime friends of mom Carol, Nell and Sydney. Pearl was predeceased by her sister Anne. Pearl was born on the family farm in rural Manitoba and was moved into Brandon when her mother died at age 12. She completed her schooling in Brandon and lived for a short time in Montreal prior to settling in Calgary. Pearl began her book-keeping and accounting career in Brandon at the Singer Sewing Machine Company. She accepted a position with an Oil Company that influenced her move to Calgary. She was an excellent and prolific seamstress and in her spare time enjoyed the cinema. Family outings to the Zoo and Heritage Park and visits with the family were highlights of her life. Pearl loved her cats and was quiet by nature. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and lived her life for her family who loved her in return. A Memorial Service will be held at Pierson’s Funeral Service, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE on Thursday, December 5 at 2:00 pm. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA or the charity of your choice. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
