Balcom, Rebecca “Becky” Jean – of Calgary, AB passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. Born in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late MC “Mac” and Norah (Neily) Balcom.
Becky grew up on a farm in Melvern Square with a great group of friends and family. She graduated from Middleton Regional High School and continued her education at St. Mary’s University obtaining her BA. She then graduated from the University of Manitoba with her MA in archaeology.
Becky lived and worked her entire career in Calgary. She was a senior partner in the firm Golder Associates and the Director of Cultural Sciences.
Traveling outside of work was a big part of her life. She visited many places that most people only dream about seeing. Becky returned to Nova Scotia yearly and eventually built her summer home on the Bay of Fundy.
Becky is survived by her sisters, Debbie Jordan (Glen) Fredericton NB, Lorna Balcom, Bridgetown; brother, Jim Balcom (Carmen) Middleton; nephew, Nick Balcom (Rachael) and their daughters, Lauren and Ashley, Port Williams. She was predeceased by her parents and niece, Megan Balcom.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Becky’s wishes there will be no service.
